WHAT IS THE SMALL GROUP (SG) LOCKIN? 

The SG Lockin is a brand new experience for MS and HS small groups that is actually 2 events for the price of 1: The first half of the event is all about your student’s small group figuring out who they are and what they want to be about as a group. It will set the tone for their entire year (or next several years!) together. The back half of the event is an all-out party, highlighted by an all-night “Double Dog Dare-a-thon”, designed to help your student reach out to their lost friends.

WHAT IS A DOUBLE DOG DARE-A-THON?

As you probably know, lock-ins are all night events where teenagers (who don’t think they need sleep EVER) get to stay up all night, “locked in” to a building or home, and have a ton of good, clean fun doing so. For the SG Lockin, your student’s fun for the night will be in the form of a Double Dog Dare-a-thon. The Double Dog Dare-a-thon will entail goofy, silly dares sent to all our SG homes throughout the night (for example, “We dare you to get a video of someone in your group eating a pie without their hands!”), with a point value attached to each. Groups will submit their completed dares to us throughout the night to receive points. The winner will be determined live at the Double Dog Dare-a-thon Finale on Sunday morning. The winning group will receive an ice cream sundae party on us on Wednesday 10/12!

WHY WOULD I WANT MY STUDENT TO SIGN UP?

Two big reasons: #1, the SG Lockin is going to be an amazing opportunity for your student to build incredible relationships with their Small Group. If they’ve been feeling disconnected, or wanting to go deeper with their friends, this is the weekend for that to happen. #2, the SG Lockin is going to be an amazing opportunity for your student to “love where they live” and invite their friends who don’t go to church to have a first exposure to Jesus in a safe and fun environment.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

For McKinney students  who have attended a McKinney event the cost is $30 in September, and $40 in October. This covers dinner on Saturday, breakfast on Sunday, activities, curriculum for the weekend, AND the cost of hosting friends who don’t have a church home for FREE.

WHEN IS IT?

For McKinney students, the SG Locking is from 1pm on Saturday, October 8, through noon on Sunday, October 9. For their friends who don’t have a church home, we would love for them to come for the whole event, or anytime that they can jump in!!

WHERE IS IT?

The SG Lockin will take place in host homes around the Fort Worth area. All host homes will be McKinney Church attenders who have been background checked to insure your student’s safety throughout the weekend. The finale of the SG Lockin will take place from 9am - 12pm at McKinney Church. Transportation from your student’s host home to the church will be provided by background-checked drivers. Students should be picked up in the McKinney Church JAG at noon on Sunday.
